About Teen Wellness

There is no such thing as a ‘bad kid’—just angry, hurt, tired, scared, confused, or impulsive ones expressing their feelings the only way they know how.” Dr. Jessica Stephens’ words remind us of the immense pressures teenagers face today. As a mother of two, one of whom is a teenager, I understand this all too well.

I’ve witnessed firsthand the challenges teens grapple with – balancing school, friendships, and their sense of identity in a world that often seems to expect too much of them. Teen wellness isn’t just a professional concern for me; it’s personal.

The rising rates of anxiety, depression, and emotional distress among teens can no longer be ignored. These young minds are navigating an increasingly complex world, often without the emotional tools to cope. That’s why we need to act, not with judgment, but with empathy and purpose.

It’s okay to not be okay—let’s work together to create balance and resilience.

As a life coach, I offer programs that recognize the full spectrum of teenage well-being. Mental and emotional support is key, and I use tools like mindfulness, and peer mentoring to help teens better express themselves. Physical wellness is equally important.

Activities such as yoga, outdoor experiences, and even something as simple as gardening can be powerful in helping to alleviate stress and clear the mind. I also believe that parents have a vital role to play.

Communication within the family is essential, and many of my programs involve working closely with both teens and their parents to foster understanding and create a nurturing environment. Being a mother has given me a unique perspective, one that blends empathy with the understanding that sometimes firm but compassionate action is needed.
